Target has not only its own plantations. To meet the demand of our customers and to provide adequate quantities the company has set up an Out growers Network of more than 1000 contract farmers on about 15000 acres of organic cultivated and certified lands.
" Soon after our first exports we realized that we will not be able to satisfy the demand of our customers with our own farms alone. So we integrated more and more interested local farmers in our project. We give them regular training seminars and show them how to make compost places, how to treat diseases in natural ways and organize the collection of their harvest and transport them to one of our contract factories.
For these tasks, we have employed agricultural graduates and we call this our internal control system. Our six field officers are visiting the farms and the farmers on a regular base and give them all the advice they need. In addition, our people organize and convoy the transport of the organic product to the factories. The field officers are also responsible for a proper documentation of the purchase by Target from the farmer, which guarantees an unlimited trace ability from the doorstep of the field.
